VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Canada is expected to take a “less is more” approach with physical activity guidelines.
The new fitness targets should make getting the recommended amount of exercise a little easier. Experts believe we can get health benefits from softened fitness goals, since few people meet the current guidelines of 90 minutes of activity per day for kids and hour for adults.
It could soon be changed to an hour a day for kids and 150 minutes per week for adults.
ParticipACTION is the Canadian agency created to inspire fitness and was consulted on the new guidelines, which seem to be all but official. They are expected to be released by the end of the month and will also include recommendations about how much time couch potatoes should be spending in front of the TV.
