IKEA recalls thousands of RUND drinking glasses after injuries

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Swedish home furnishings retailer IKEA Group is recalling hundreds of thousands of RUND drinking glasses after a dozen broke during use, causing injury.

IKEA said 256,000 RUND handmade glass mugs have been sold worldwide between October 2009 and March 2010.

Company spokeswoman Ylva Magnusson said the recall comes after a dozen of them broke while in use leaving five users with cuts. None of the victims were seriously injured, she added.

Magnusson said customers are asked to stop using the glasses “immediately” and return them for a full refund.

The Helsingborg-headquartered group employs 127,000 people and has 280 stores.
