TORONTO — UFC fans will be able to watch two preliminary bouts on Saturday’s “Fight for the Troops 2” card on Facebook.
The UFC said Tuesday the fights will be available via live streaming by clicking the “Like” button on the official UFC Facebook page at 8 p.m. ET.
The UFC has in the past shown preliminary bouts on television in advance of pay-per-views cards. This time, it is using the Internet ahead of a televised card.
“I’m always looking for ways to give fans fights for free and this is just another example of that,” UFC president Dana White said in a statement. “Facebook is such a great tool for people to stay connected and we’re excited to put two live fights on our UFC page for free.”
The main card from Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas, is being shown on Spike TV and Rogers Sportsnet (9 p.m. ET).
The two prelim bouts slated for Facebook feature lightweights Cody McKenzie (12-0) and Yves Edwards (39-16-1), and welterweights DaMarques Johnson (16-8) and Mike (The Joker) Guymon (13-4-1).
The UFC is also hosting an online auction to raise funds for members of the U.S. military with traumatic brain injuries.
