Pothole Season Is Here

There’s an old joke that explains Canada’s two seasons: winter, and construction.

In Toronto, it’s more like summer, and potholes.

Last month alone, the city filled 4400 of the wheel-rattling divots. And during the course of the year, City Hall spends $4 million in repairs.

The constantly changing temperatures of winter cause the roads to freeze and thaw, creating craters on our streets.

680News reports the city has assigned up to 100 workers to fill the gaping holes over the winter, but they only plan on doing so when there is no snow to clear.

Crews filled a total of 180,000 potholes last year, a drop of almost 80,000 from 2009 due to last year’s mild winter.
