Yonge Subway Shuts Down This Weekend

Getting around the downtown core will be more challenging this weekend than usual for those who use the TTC.

Starting Saturday, the Yonge subway line will be closed between Bloor and Union stations to lay tracks for a crossover section at College.

There are currently only two such passageways available, at Bloor-Yonge and Union stations, which allow trains to turn around during emergencies.

Southbound Yonge trains will turn back at Bloor and southbound University-Spadina trains will turn back at Union until Monday morning.

In the meantime, riders can take a Yonge Street shuttle bus, which will stop at Bloor, Wellesley, College/Carlton, Dundas, Queen, King, and Front at Bay.

The TTC will need to shut down the line for two more weekends to complete the work, likely in February and March.
