CFIA Warns Against Consuming Candy Containing Undeclared Peanuts

Canada’s food regulator is warning people with allergies to peanuts not to consume a candy called Wally & Molly Saltwater Taffy.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said late Friday that the product, imported from the United States, contains peanuts which are not declared on the label.

It is sold in 190-gram packages bearing UPC 6 28162 81013 0 and has been distributed nationally.

The agency says there has been one reported reaction associated with the consumption of the candy.

It says consumption of the product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to peanuts.

The agency is working with the importer to have it removed from the marketplace.
