Free agent Khan re-signs with Bombers

Ibrahim Khan, one of the last significant players CFL free agents remaining, has decided to remain with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The veteran centre has agreed to a two-year deal including an option that will pay him in the neighbourhood of $130,000, sources tell Sportsnet.

Earlier in the off-season, Khan and the Blue Bombers appeared far apart on a contract extension.

There had been some faint interest in the 30-year-old from B.C. and Saskatchewan before Winnipeg increased its offer, an offer some in league circles had called “laughable.” Khan’s signing leaves three major free agents on the market: Adriano Belli, Ben Archibald and Jarious Jackson.

Belli will likely return to Toronto, Archibald is expected to land in B.C. and Jackson (although he has held talks with the Toronto Argonauts) remains in search for a starting quarterback job.
