Rainy morning could lead to icy evening

Toronto and much of the GTA woke up to a rainy morning on Monday but the warm temperatures might not last.

The wet and mild weather is likely to turn wild by evening, with snow and a potential flash freeze in the forecast.

It’s all because of a low pressure system bringing rain, snow, sleet, and freezing rain to the region.

Some school boards in southern Ontario cancelled their buses due to freezing rain fears. For a full list of closures and cancellations, click here.

In Toronto, we could even set a record. The most precipitation we’ve ever had was 12.2mm, set back in 1955. We hit that milestone again in 1999 and on Monday, we just might beat it.

The rain will end around noon for the downtown core and could turn into snow as the mercury drops. Overnight, the temperature will plummet to -10C.
