WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers traded long snapper Taylor Inglis to the Edmonton Eskimos on Thursday for two selections in the upcoming CFL draft.
Inglis, an Edmonton native, played 88 regular-season games with the Eskimos from 2005-’09. He was among the final cuts from training camp last year and went on to sign as a free agent with the Blue Bombers.
Winnipeg received a fifth-round (No. 32 overall) pick and sixth-round selection (No. 41) in the deal.
“Being able to secure two more draft picks in the 2011 draft is a key for us,” Bombers general manager Joe Mack said in a release. “We have maintained the notion that young Canadian talent is crucial to success, and this will help us with that process.
“We thank Taylor for his professionalism and work for the Blue Bombers throughout the 2010 season and wish him and his family all the best.”
The six-foot-three, 252-pound Inglis recorded eight special-teams tackles last season.
“We’re very pleased to bring Taylor back to Edmonton,” said Eskimos GM Eric Tillman.
