Mets’ Bay sits out game against Braves

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Canadian outfielder Jason Bay will miss the New York Mets’ Grapefruit League game against the Atlanta Braves with a stiff back.

Bay, of Trail, B.C., said he first felt his back tighten up while swinging the bat Friday and it continued during the night. He said he would have played Saturday had it been a regular-season game.

The three-time all-star said it’s just “stiffness, soreness.”

Bay said he already was scheduled to be off Sunday when the Mets play the St. Louis Cardinals in Jupiter.
