A man is facing a number of charges, including attempted murder, after an altercation that ended in a hail of gunfire that sent another man to hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.
The shooting happened around 9 p.m. Thursday at 415 Willowdale Ave., near Yonge Street and Finch Avenue. Police say a fight broke out between two men, who know each other, and ended when a 40-year-old was shot several times.
“I heard three gunshots,” said area resident Mindy Kroch, who added that a bullet penetrated her apartment in a previous shooting. “I called the police and they said that they had just gotten another call also. It’s a little scary.”
“I’ve been here 20 years, nothing is changing, it’s just getting worse.”
The victim’s friends drove him to North York General Hospital and he was later transferred to Sunnybrook where he’s listed in stable condition.
Bryan Friginette, 31, was arrested on attempted murder, aggravated assault and firearms charges. He’s scheduled to appear in court Friday. Police say they seized a handgun and ammunition from the suspect.
