Scholar Trek: Shatner to receive honorary degree from McGill

William Shatner is being beamed back to his hometown this spring to receive an honorary degree from his alma mater, McGill University.

The 80-year-old former Star Trek star will be honoured during convocation on June 2.

Shatner graduated from McGill in 1952 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

While studying there, he was president of McGill’s radio workshop and was active in campus theatre productions.

The Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actor was also recently awarded with the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for lifetime achievement.

He now stars in the sitcom $#*! My Dad Says, originally adapted from a popular Twitter account.
