Police searching for suspect after two elderly men attacked in Markham

Authorities are appealing for tips from the public as they try to track down a man who attacked two elderly men in Markham last month.

Police say the incident happened on April 25 when the two victims, ages 74 and 83, were walking their bikes along Highway 48, near Denison Street, after grocery shopping when a man walking in front of them made some racial slurs.

The 74-year-old man approached the suspect and he was pushed. When his 83-year-old friend stepped in to help, police say the suspect punched him in the face.

The attacker took off on foot. Police describe him as:

-White
-25 to 30 years old,
-About 5’10” with a medium build
-Short, brown hair and a light brown beard,
-He was wearing a maroon-coloured jacket and was carrying a knapsack
-He was wearing earphones
