VANCOUVER — A new slimmer Shane Carwin says he learned from his loss to Brock Lesnar.
Carwin dominated the first round but was submitted in the second as he ran out of steam at UFC 116 last August.
Carwin has had neck surgery since and retooled his diet.
He expects to weigh between 255 and 260 pounds Saturday when he faces Brazilian slugger Junior Dos Santos in the main event of UFC 131.
That’s about 20-25 pounds lighter than when he fought Lesnar.
Carwin says: “I think I’m just as explosive and just as strong.”
Saturday’s winner gets a shot at heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez.
Carwin stepped in for Lesnar, who has been sidelined by diverticulitis, a digestive disorder.
