A body found in Uxbridge is believed to be that of a missing Toronto woman.

The Durham Regional Police is investigating the murder of Margarita Shumakova, 18.

Officers in the area on an unrelated matter made the disturbing discovery
near Concession Road 8 between Wagg and Reid roads around 9 p.m. on Friday.

The body was badly decomposed, Sgt. Nancy Van Rooy told CityNews.ca on Monday. Officers were able to identify Shumakova based on dental records and are waiting on DNA testing to confirm her identity.
