TTC chair Karen Stintz has offered an apology after a rider spotted a transit worker urinating outside a subway station in plain view of the public.
The incident happened on June 15 at Runnymede station, rider Gary Pieters told the Toronto Star, and it represents yet another public relations black eye for the transit commission.
Stintz called the incident, which violates the TTC’s code of conduct and one of its bylaws, unacceptable. The commission said the worker has been identified but it wouldn’t comment on what disciplinary action is being taken, if any.
News of this incident comes days after a woman told CityNews she was assaulted by a TTC supervisor on a Bathurst streetcar last Monday.
A rider named Shari, frustrated by a 40-minute delay, asked the streetcar driver why he was so late. The operator put the car out of service and called a supervisor. When the supervisor showed up and saw she was filming, Shari claims he knocked the camera out of her hands.
Police were called and no charged were laid. On Friday, Stintz said an investigation into the matter is ongoing.
