Man suffers life-threatening injuries in longboarding accident

A 21-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after he was struck by a car while riding a longboard in Georgetown early Friday.
The accident happened just after 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Mountainview Road North and River Drive.
The man was rushed to Sunnybrook hospital via air ambulance with critical injuries. The 19-year-old driver wasn’t hurt.
Last month, a 16-year-old boy was seriously hurt while riding his longboard in Burlington.
Police said the teen was hit by a pickup truck while rounding a corner, crouched on his board.
In the most recent case, investigators are asking witnesses to contact them.
