The SIU has released the name of a man killed in a shooting on Saturday night along the Caribbean Carnival parade route on Lake Shore Boulevard West near the Molson Amphitheatre.
Kevin Murray, 30, of Ajax, died after “interacting with Toronto Police Service officers,” the Special Investigations Unit said in a release Tuesday.
Murray was one of three people hit by bullets around 7:30 p.m., not long after the annual parade ended.
The SIU is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Murray‘s death, and injuries to a Pickering woman, Megan Martin, 21, and Amrit Boodram, 18, of Scarborough.
Martin is currently recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery. Boodram, who spoke to CityNews on Monday, narrowly avoided serious injury or death after a bullet grazed his forehead.
“To date the SIU has conducted twenty-one witness interviews. The lead investigator is confident more witnesses will come forward and interviews will be conducted as required,” the release said.
The SIU is asking anyone who may have any information including still pictures, video or audio-video recordings relating to this case to contact the Unit at 416-622-1806 or 1-800-787-8529 extension #1806.
