Rogers customers who travel now have a way to track roaming costs and avoid unexpected charges on their mobile phone bills.
The Toronto-based parent of Citytv announced its new 24-hour and week-long Roaming Data Passes on Wednesday, which include real-time usage alerts.
“Customers have told us they’re concerned about roaming costs because they don’t have a true sense of how much data they use when travelling abroad,” said Raj Doshi, vice-president of mobile product management at Rogers.
“The real-time data usage alerts will take the guesswork out of roaming.”
The passes start at $5 per day and can be bought before a trip or while roaming on a mobile device.
If customers go over their limit, they will be notified and given the choice to continue at a pay-per-use rate or to buy another pass.
All roaming offers can be added by texting “travel” to 7626 or visiting www.rogers.com/m/roam on a mobile device.
