Classmates have identified the woman swept over Niagara Falls on Sunday as 20-year-old Ayano Tokumasu.
Tokumasu, who is presumed dead, was an international student from Japan studying English at the Hansa Language Centre on Eglinton Ave. E.
She fell into the Niagara River and was swept over the raging natural wonder after straddling a railing to pose for a photo.
Police say she was holding an umbrella at the time, which may have contributed to her losing her balance.
Police and fire crews from both sides of the border searched extensively, but her body hasn’t been recovered. Investigators say it could be weeks before it surfaces.
The search was scaled back late Monday.
