Walnut recall expanded again, includes other snacks

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has again expanded a walnut recall over fears the Johnvince Foods products could be contaminated with E. coli.
The alert was first issued on Sept. 1. Now, other snack foods are being recalled, including Compliments Salted Toasted Corn, Presidents Choice Raisin Cranberry Trail Mix, and Longos Organics Sultana Raisins.
Johnvince Foods imported the walnuts from California and sold them to retailers, who repackaged them. Even products that don’t contain walnuts could be affected, the CFIA said.
The products have been distributed across Canada. The CFIA is advising customers that food contaminated with E. coli may not look or taste spoiled.
Eating food contaminated with the bacteria can cause a variety of serious health problems, ranging from severe abdominal pain, seizures, strokes to permanent kidney damage and even death.
No illnesses have been reported.
