Canucks kick-off exhibition season tonight

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks kick-off their pre-season schedule tonight with split-squad games in Vancouver and Calgary against the Flames.  Coach Alain Vigneault will get his first look at players fighting for positions on the blueline and lines two and four.

Veterans Marco Sturm and Owen Nolan will play the game in Vancouver.  Both players are trying to take advantage of long-term injuries to Ryan Kesler (hip) and Mason Raymond (back).

The game in Calgary has former number one draft pick Cody Hodgson in the line-up along with veteran Todd Fedoruk, who is trying to make the club’s fourth line.

Goalie Cory Schneider gets the start at Rogers Arena while veteran Manny Legace starts in Calgary. Legace signed a professional try-out contract with Vancouver in the off-season.

Several veteran players won’t play in either game including the Sedin twins, Alexandre Burrows, Chris Higgins and Jannik Hansen.

Game time in Vancouver is 7 p.m.
