TFC needs a victory against Tauro

It will be a must-win matchup for Toronto FC on Tuesday night when Panamanian side Tauro FC comes to town for a CONCACAF Champions League clash.

TFC won the first game between the two squads 2-1 on Aug. 18 but have come up on the losing end in consecutive CCL matches against Pumas of Mexico and Dallas FC, leaving the Canadian team in third place in Group C. The top two teams in the group will advance.

While the Reds have struggled in CCL they are on a roll in league play after having a 3-1-1 record over its last five games, including a pair of wins in their last two matches. TFC knocked off the Columbus Crew 4-2 on Sept. 10 and Colorado Rapids 2-1 at home on Saturday.

On Monday, striker Danny Koevermans was named MLS player of the week becoming the second TFC player to win the award this season. Midfielder Joao Plata claimed the award on May 9.

Defender Richard Eckersely will be back in the lineup for TFC after missing the 4-0 loss to Pumas due to a red card. Plata, however, will not suit up against Tauro because of a strained hamstring.
