VANCOUVER – Singer Sarah McLachlan will bring some star power to the BC Lions’ first game back at their newly refurbished home stadium next week.
The Grammy award-winning songstress will perform “O Canada” at BC Place Stadium as the Lions take on the Edmonton Eskimos Sept. 30.
Dancers, drummers and cheerleaders will also be part of the half-time show.
BC Place general manager Howard Crosley says McLachlan is the perfect choice to perform the national anthem as the stadium reopens.
It’s the largest sports facility in the province, and hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Olympics.
BC Place will have the largest cable-supported retractable roof of its kind in the world and will also become home to the Vancouver Whitecaps soccer club.
