William Shatner releases new album ‘Seeking Major Tom’

Captain Kirk is taking off again.

William Shatner – best known for his role as Kirk on Star Trek — released his new album “Seeking Major Tom” on Tuesday, featuring spoken-word covers as well as a version of the Queen classic “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Most of the 19 tracks are covers, but there is one original song on the album, Shatner said on Twitter.

“My new album is #29 best seller in Rock Music on Amazon right now thanks in large part to my Twitter followers. I thank you! My best, Bill,” Shatner tweeted.

Of course, the Emmy-winning actor gained fame his work on Star Trek but he has also performed popular versions of the songs “Common People” and “Rocket Man.” In fact, this is the third release for the deep-voiced Canadian. Shatner’s first album: “The Transformed Man,” was released in 1968; and “Has Been,” was released in 2004.

Shatner was born in Montreal, Que., on March 22, 1931. He received a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2000.
