Munoz, Leben make weight for UFC 138

All fighters made weight without incident Friday for the UFC’s only trip to England in 2011.

UFC 138, which takes place Saturday at the LG Arena in Birmingham, is headlined by a middleweight contender bout between Mark Munoz and Chris Leben. It is the organization’s first event across the pond in over year, and the first in the city since 2008, when Leben also headlined against British star Michael Bisping.

Watch UFC 138 live on Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET. Sportsnet is the only channel in North America to watch it live.

Leben and Munoz, who both weighed 186 pounds, touched foreheads during their staredown.

Munoz (11-2) is currently on a three-fight win streak and coming off a unanimous decision win over Demian Maia at UFC 131 in Vancouver. Leben (22-7) has won four of his past five; he knocked out Wanderlei Silva in 27 seconds in July after falling to a first-round TKO to Brian Stann in January.

Meanwhile, Brazil’s Thiago Alves was one pound above the limit for his welterweight tilt against unbeaten Swede Papy Abedi, who is making his UFC debut. Alves was given one hour to get down to 171 pounds, which he did. Abedi was 170.
