‘The Artist’ leads Golden Globe nominations with 6 nods

The Artist scooped up six nominations as the Golden Globes were announced on Thursday morning.

The silent film about the silent-film era picked up nods for best comedy or musical, as well as nominations for actors Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo.

In an echo of Wednesday’s Screen Actors Guild Award nominations, The Help scored five nods, including recommendations for actresses Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Jessica Chastain.

Comedian Ricky Gervais will host the 69th annual ceremony on Jan. 15, 2012.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s annual Golden Globe awards also hand out statues to television shows. Citytv programs Modern Family and New Girl are nominated for best comedy series.

Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin, both from 30 Rock, picked up nods for best actress and best actor in a comedy.
