LeapPad tablet flying off the shelves this Christmas

With just days to go until Christmas, many parents are scrambling to find the perfect gift to put under the tree for their little ones.

And it seems this year, the most coveted toy around is the LeapFrog LeapPad. But the gadget is in short supply.

“You usually hear ‘Oh we had them, but we sold the last one yesterday.’ So I’ve had no luck,” said parent Connie Meade.

“It’s been crazy, as we get them into the stores, as we get then online, we see them selling out within hours,” said Barb D’Agostino, category manager of toys at Walmart Canada.

The toy is designed to be a kid-friendly version of an iPad.

While finding the toy in stores is proving difficult, there are some available on sites like Craigslist. But the prices on the $80 item are significantly inflated.

Another toy that’s flying off shelves is Hot Tracks by Hot Wheels.

But the experts say it’s important to remember

“It’s not a bad idea to say ‘You know, Santa’s really busy and he might not be able to get to all of the things on your list,” said Sandra Martin, executive editor of Today’s Parent magazine.
