City to crackdown on rush hour gridlock

TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto is on the verge of becoming home to the most expensive rush hour traffic fines in North America.
City council seems poised to pass an anti-congestion motion that would raise the fine from $60 to $150 for drivers who park or stop illegally during rush hour in Toronto.
It’s all part of a plan to tackle congestion in the downtown core during the morning and afternoon rush hours.
Rush hour is considered to be between 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Council is also considering an increase for blocking a bike lane from $60 to $150.
