Michalek possible for Dec. 27 return

The Ottawa Senators have received some good news concerning forward Milan Michalek. The27-year-old, who has been sidelined with a concussion, passed his baseline test Thursday and appears set to return to the lineup next week.
Michalek will likely suit up for the Senators when they host the Montreal Canadiens on Dec. 27, sportsnet.ca has learned.
The winger suffered a concussion when he collided with teammate Erik Karlsson in a game against the Buffalo Sabres on Dec. 13. At the time of his injury, Michalek was leading the league in goals with 19.
Michalek skated with the Sens for on Tuesday and looked good according to head coach Paul MacLean. “He wanted to go for a skate and skated real good, so we’ll take that as being really positive,” said MacLean. “I haven’t heard anything negative from the skate, other than it went good. We’ll see how it goes, but I’ll take it as very positive.”
In 31 games this season, the Czech winger has 19 goals and 25 points. The Sens are 3-1 without Michalek and 17-14-4 overall. Ottawa looks to win its fourth consecutive game as they visit the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday in a game that can be seen live on Sportsnet East starting at 7 p.m. ET.
