Police continue investigation into Port Credit drowning

Peel police continue their investigation into the death of a 55-year-old man at Port Credit marina early Wednesday morning.

Constable Marlon Colthrust said they’re dealing with conflicting witness reports of what actually happened when the man’s wife fell into the water about 1 a.m. Tuesday.

“One report was that the male went in after his wife and another report was that the wife was pulled out and he fell in afterwards,” Colthrust said.

Police confirmed a bystander rescued the woman. She was taken to hospital and released later that day.

An autopsy on the man is scheduled for Wednesday.
