Ovechkin spit in my face: Dorsett

Columbus Blue Jackets winger Derek Dorsett has accused Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin of spitting on him during the Jackets-Capitals game on Saturday night.
“I haven’t told many people this, but he spit in my face,” Dorsett told The Columbus Dispatch. “That got me a little more mad.”
Dorsett, a known agitator, seemed particularly preoccupied with Ovechkin in the second half of the Jackets’ 4-2 loss. He told the Dispatch that Ovechkin spit on him during a face-to-face scuffle at 2:38 of the second period. Both players received minor penalties on the play, Dorsett for cross-checking and Ovechkin for roughing.
“That’s why I was yelling at the ref so much and yelling at him in the penalty box,” Dorsett told the Dispatch. “That’s probably one of the most disrespectful things someone can do, especially a guy who is the best player in the league. It’s classless. He’s supposed to be a role model for the game. It’s unbelievable.
“Sometimes you want to let players like that sleep. You want to play them hard but you don’t want to wake them up. But when something like that happens.… I don’t know if he meant to do it, but the bottom line is he did it and it’s disgusting.”
Perhaps fueled by Dorsett’s pestering, Ovechkin scored twice in the third frame, leading his team to victory.
Ovechkin disputed Dorsett’s accusation on Wednesday to The Washington Post.
“No, no, no. I don’t know,” Ovechkin said. “Show me the moment. I want to see it. No.”
