TORONTO – IKEA has issued a recall of belts from a high chair it sold in Canada and the United States.
The recall was issued because the belts can open unexpectedly when in use, creating a fall hazard.
So far there has been eight incidents where children fell, three of the children sustained minor injuries from the fall.
Health Canada says they have not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these highchair belts.
The recall involves the Safety Belt found on the ANTILOP highchair from supplier number 17389 with the production date 0607-0911 (YYMM).
People with these high chairs are being advised to stop using them immediately and contact Ikea about getting a replacement belt.
Approximately 36,000 units of the recalled products were sold in Canada and 133,000 units in the United States.
