If you’re born to be wild and in the town of Oakville, your motorcycle better not be excessively loud or you’ll have to pay the price.
Lakeshore Road in Oakville is a hot spot for riders, but Coun. Cathy Duddeck told 680News the noise is out of control.
“The sound is just horrendous,” Duddeck said.
The noise bylaw has been updated to include motorcycles — they can’t exceed 92 decibels.
The bylaw will come into effect on July 1 after a public education campaign.
Bob Ramsay, president of the Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council, is OK with that.
“Rather than having a bad image that is associated with really loud motorcycles, we prefer to take this proactive approach,” Ramsay said.
The fines range from $400 to $25,000 for the first offence. For a second offence, the maximum fine is $50,000.
