Hollingsworth captures bronze in skeleton

KOENIGSSEE, Germany — Canadian Mellisa Hollingsworth won a bronze medal Friday at a skeleton World Cup.

Shelly Rudman of Britain finished half a second ahead of Marion Thees of Germany for her first skeleton World Cup victory in a year. Her last win came at St. Moritz, Switzerland, last January.

Thees’ second-place finish moved her past Hollingsworth to the head of the season standings after five of eight races.

Hollingsworth, a native of Eckville, Alta., is nine points behind Thees, who has 938 points overall.

Rudman is third with 897 points.
