Muhammad Ali celebrates 70th birthday

Boxing great Muhammad Ali celebrated his 70th birthday Saturday night as friends and family gathered at a dinner party in Louisville, Ky.

Ali, with his wife Lonnie and sister-in-law, met the crowd for several minutes from a balcony overlooking the lobby of the Muhammad Ali Center.

Partygoers responded with cheers and chants before the former heavyweight champ waved to the crowd and headed into a private dinner.

Ali was born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. on Jan. 17, 1942 in Louisville.
