Police release audio, video in rapper murder

TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police have released cellphone audio and video they hope will identify a young woman who was at an east-end recording studio when Anthony Spencer was shot and killed.
The audio is a recording of the woman’s call to a cab company. The sound of the gunshot is heard in the recording, right before the ringtone.
Police are urging the woman to come forward.
Det. Sgt. Gary Giroux told 680News that if the woman does not come forward, he can only assume she was involved in the murder.
“She’s either a witness to the offence or she’s a party to the offence and she needs to decide,” he said.
Giroux said the woman could be charged in the murder if she does not come forward.
“She has a difficult choice to make. She is either with them or against them. My advice is for her to get a lawyer and come forward and speak to us with regards to what happened.”
The woman is seen on video arriving with two men, who are now under arrest. Police say the two men were arrested earlier in the week on unrelated criminal offences.
At a news conference, police also said Spencer’s murder is linked to a series of drive-by shootings in the Scarborough area over the weekend.
However, investigators said there is no connection between these incidents and last week’s murder of barber Chris Thompson.
All of the victims in all of the shootings were targeted and Martin said police need the public’s help to solve them.
“We need witnesses’ help. We can put together circumstantial cases, but there are gaping holes where eye-witness testimony is needed,” Toronto police Supt. Kathryn Martin said.
