2 charged in west-end home invasion

Police have charged a man and woman in a home invasion that occurred last fall in the city’s west end.

Investigators say the suspects walked into a 77-year-old man’s home in the King St. and Dufferin St. area and demanded $5,000 on Oct. 4, 2011.

They also alleged that the female suspect went into the kitchen and armed herself with a butcher knife, before the pair forced the elderly man to give them his bank card and PIN.

He was then duct taped to a chair before they fled.

The victim managed to free himself and called police. He also claimed the pair stole his watch.

Shawn Pugliese, 50, of no fixed address, and Nicole Clement, 37, of Toronto, face charges of robbery, weapons dangerous and forcible confinement.
