Inquest called into OPP Const. Vu Pham’s 2010 death

Ontario’s chief coroner has ordered an inquest into the deaths of an OPP constable and a 70-year-old man in a shootout almost two years ago.
Const. Vu Pham, 37, died in hospital on March 8, 2010, hours after he pulled over a pickup truck on a rural road northwest of London and exchanged fire with the driver, Fred Preston.
Preston, a former reeve of Joly township in northern Ontario, was taken off life-support three days later.
Pham was a 15-year veteran of the OPP and a married father of three boys.
The inquest will begin March 26 in a London hotel and last 13 days.
