Defending champ Holland loses; Scott in first

RED DEER, Alta. — B.C.’s Kelly Scott is alone in first place at the Canadian women’s curling championship after a 7-5 win over defending champion Amber Holland.
Scott’s Kelowna rink improves to 4-0 with the win while Holland’s team falls to 3-1.
Scott played without Sasha Carter, who was ill with the flu. Vice-skip Dailene Silverton threw third rocks in Carter’s place and alternate Sherry Fraser filled in at second.
Manitoba’s Jennifer Jones and Saskatchewan’s Michelle Englot are tied in third place at 2-1.
In the only other game this morning, Alberta’s Heather Nedohin doubled Ontario’s Tracy Horgan 8-4.
Both teams are 2-2 alongside Kerry Galusha of Yukon and Northwest Territories and Quebec’s Marie-France Larouche.
