Health Canada issues warning after lead found in 2 toys

Parents should immediately throw out two toys made in China after an unsafe amount of lead was found in both products, Health Canada said.

The Pizza Playset and the Fishing Game, manufactured by Ningbo Ftz Zhengbao International Trading Company Ltd., should be discarded immediately.

They can be put out with normal household garbage.

The barcode for the Pizza Playset is 094922130778 and the barcode for the Fishing Game is 094922553980.

Children can ingest harmful amounts of lead when they chew, suck or swallow items that contain it, and even a small amount can be harmful.

A range of serious health effects have been associated with exposure to lead, including anemia, vomiting, diarrhea, serious brain injury, convulsions, coma, as well as effects related to the liver, kidneys, heart and immune system.

In extreme cases, lead poisoning can result in death.
