A 22-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries after he was hit by a car after stepping off a TTC bus in North York late Tuesday night.
The pedestrian was hit around 11:30 p.m. on Bathurst at McAllister Road, just south of Sheppard Avenue.
The man stepped off the bus and walked into a live lane of traffic, police said.
Police also say the victim was wearing headphones and likely couldn’t hear oncoming traffic.
“Once you put both those earphones in and if you do turn up the music, you’re not going to hear anything around you,” said Const. Clint Stibbe.
The man was taken to Sunnybrook hospital with a serious head injury. No charges have been laid against the driver.
Police closed Bathurst for the reconstruction investigation. It reopened just before 6 a.m.
