More than 1,000 well-wishers gathered at a special mass in Toronto to welcome home newly-elevated cardinal Thomas Collins.
Collins celebrated the Mass of Thanksgiving Wednesday morning at his parish, St. Michael’s Cathedral, on Bond Street downtown.
In the crowd were priests, deacons, dignitaries and representatives from other faiths.
Pope Benedict elevated Collins to the college of cardinals in Rome on Feb. 18.
Collins will celebrate masses throughout the GTA over the next two weeks.
