An additional charge has been laid against an Oshawa man accused of building a dungeon-style room in an abandoned Pickering farmhouse.
Robert Edwin White, 44, has been charged with attempted kidnapping, on top of the original charge of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence.
White appeared in court, Wednesday, for a bail hearing but a publication ban has been placed on evidence presented, including the identity of the person it is alleged White tried to kidnap.
Police say there is no indication anyone was ever help in the room, which was discovered by demolition crews late last year.
The house was destroyed by fire in early January.
White’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 12.
