Extreme cold weather alert continues for Toronto

Toronto is still under an extreme cold weather alert issued Saturday morning.
The city is encouraging homeless people to seek shelter from the frigid temperatures.During an alert, the city opens up 172 more beds, orders shelters to relax restrictions and hands out TTC tokens so people can get to the centres.

An alert is called when Environment Canada predicts temperatures of -15 C or lower without wind chill, issues a wind chill warning or predicts extreme weather conditions such as a blizzard, ice storm or sudden drops in temperature.
The agency had predicted a low of -13 C for Saturday night, warning it will feel colder with the wind chill.
By 11 p.m., Toronto saw lows around -18 C.
