Maple Leafs forward Mikhail Grabovski contract extended

TORONTO, Ont. – The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced forward Mikhail Grabovski has agreed to a five-year contract extension.
He was due to become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
The move comes shortly after Leafs general manager Brian Burke elected not to deal Grabovski at the trade deadline.
The 28-year-old has developed into a reliable player since coming over from Montreal in a 2008 trade.
He has 20 goals and 25 assists in 59 games this season.
Burke calls Grabovski’s speed and skill “valuable commodities.”
No financial terms have been disclosed.
