Durham police are warning young people about prank text messages.
On March 8, someone in the Niagara Region got a text message from an unknown person about a body being dumped.
The person called police, who were able to trace the message to a male and female, both age 17, in Ajax.
Due to the seriousness of the messages, officers went to their house and spoke with their parents.
Police say sending a prank message could lead to a mischief charge or, depending on the message, it could be a more serious charge.
The bogus text message ended up wasting the time of police in Durham Region and Niagara.
