Raw ground meat found in Greenwood Park

TORONTO, Ont. – At least three large piles of raw meat were found at Greenwood Park, Tuesday, leaving neighbours on edge.

The Toronto Star reports a woman who lives nearby and visits the park with her dog discovered a clump of the raw, cold meat weighing at least a pound at the base of a tree in the southeast corner of the park.

She dumped the meat in a garbage can to prevent children and animals from getting into it, and later printed off and posted a number of posters in and around the park warning people about the meat.

Another local owner – a member of the Greenwood Doggie Park Facebook group – reported finding two more piles of meat Tuesday afternoon, one of which was partially eaten.

Police are looking into the situation and say they are taking the matter very seriously. An officer warns dog owners to be mindful of their pets at all times.

There is no confirmation the meat contained any type of poison.
