Celebrity chef Anthony Sedlak dies

Canadian celebrity chef Anthony Sedlak has died. He was 29.

Sedlak hosted The Main on Food Network Canada and wrote a best-selling cookbook by the same name.

He was found dead in his North Vancouver apartment on Friday night. In a press release, his family said he had an undisclosed medical condition, but the exact cause of death is not yet known. Sedlak had recently opened The American Cheesesteak Co. restaurant in Vancouver and was working in Toronto, updating the Don Valley Hotel & Suites’ restaurants and room service menus.

Sedlak also appeared as a judge on Family Cook Off.

In a statement, Sedlak’s family thanked his fans and colleagues for their love, devotion and condolences.

“Anthony was loved by many around the globe and his contagious magnanimous spirit will be dearly missed,” they said.

Food Network Canada remembered Sedlak on its website, saying he “wowed us all with his warm personality, passion for his craft and skill in the kitchen…Anthony had a vivacious spirit and fervor for cooking and it was our privilege to have worked with him.”
