Canadian consulate in Buffalo closes

In an effort to cut costs, the Canadian government is closing its consulate in Buffalo, effective Monday.

The Buffalo News reports that seven homes are up for grabs including two mansions and two waterfront condominiums.

One of the homes was the official residence of the consul general and is worth $800,000.

Foreign Affairs says with the consulate closing, the work will now be done online or at the consulate in New York City.
